Why does my cardio always drop off the bottom of the chart when recording?

Question Last Updated on: 6/7/2007

The computerized instrument tends to be more sensitive to blood pressure changes than its analog equivalent. For this reason we recommend massaging the cuff twice and running at around 70mm Hg. Examiners usually achieve the best results by inflating to 90mm Hg and massaging the cuff down to 70mm Hg, then reinflating to 80mmHg and massaging back down to 70mm Hg. Always remember the lower your sensitivity and higher the pressure (within limits) the better the tracing.
