LXEdge 1.6.x Release Notes

Question Last Updated on: 10/7/2026

LXEdge Version 1.6.0

Released: October 7, 2026

PFs and charts saved in version 1.6.0 cannot be read reliably by earlier versions, which may show an empty PF or report a chart as too new.

Major Updates

  • Implement import of LXSoftware PFs
    • Access on “Import/Export” tab.
    • Able to select multiple PFs for import at the same time.
  • Implement optional password protection of PF archive files (.lxaz)
    • Available for the “Email” and “Archive” tabs in PF Tools. Activate by checking “Password protect” under options.
    • Password protected archive is given generic name since PF names sometimes include personal information
    • User can either manually create or have password generated automatically.
  • Modifications to the installer
    • TeamViewer executable is no longer packaged in LXEdge
    • Removed install options (“Typical”, “Custom”, “Complete”) since TeamViewer is no longer an option
  • Implement creation of multi-series reports
    • Must be enabled on “System” tab in settings.
    • Template can be edited on “Muti-Series-Reports” tab in Templates.
    • Add using the “Add Multi-Series Report” below the “Add Series” button in PF Navigation bar.
    • User can select which series to include in the report and their order in the report.
  • Strengthen protection of stored data and communications
    • PFs, charts, reviews and the audit log are now encrypted with AES-256-GCM, which also detects any alteration to a file. Existing PFs are read as before and converted the next time they are saved.
    • The log sent to Lafayette support (About page or crash report) now has examinee names and the Windows user name replaced with placeholders. The log on your computer is unchanged.
    • Messages between LXEdge and the recorder are now authenticated, and several smaller hardening items were made. These cover the internal message channel, how reports and folders are opened, and diagnostic output.

Minor Updates

  • “Open TeamViewer” button has been replaced with “Remote Support” button that downloads current TeamViewer version when support is needed.
  • Add ability to move or delete annotations.
  • Implement small level adjustment of calipers. To use:
    • Open chart and calipers.
    • Click somewhere in the chart area.
    • Hold down “Shift” or “Ctrl” key and then use arrow keys to adjust the caliper limits in 0.1 division increments.
  • Show all files in the Attachments folder on the Attachments tab, including those added through File Explorer.
  • Prevent user from ending chart during the response period.
  • Remove the Start and Stop times from information for Combined Charts
  • Store the chart selections for the “OSS Scoring” tab. Previously user would need to reselect each time they navigated to the tab.
  • Add scale to the drug reference tab.
  • Improve handling of extremely long PF names.
  • Attachment checksums now use SHA-512 only. MD5 is no longer calculated.
  • ESS statistics now use a different math library.

Bug Fixes

  • Message about needing to save changes to PF template would appear even when no changes had been made.
  • ESS merge fields were not appearing as expected in Reports.
  • Subtotal scores didn’t appear in scoresheet when numbers are first in question labels.
  • Clicking “Add Series” button multiple times without selecting a Series template would cause multiple series to be added.
  • PF creation could fail for existing custom PF templates that referenced Default.rtf report.
  • Behind the scenes, LXEdge would crash every time it was shut down.
  • Test of Proportions result could be cut off in ESS Report.
  • Attempting to use PF tools to simultaneously archive multiple PFs into a folder with name including “_Template” would cause archive to fail and the folder to be deleted.
